Striking Red

Striking Red

Striking Red is a young vibrant fruit driven Central Otago Pinot Noir made with grapes grown on the glacial terraces in the Upper Clutha Valley of Central Otago, one of the southernmost

winegrowing regions in the world.

The vines are intensively managed by hand to achieve perfectly ripe fruit for winemaking. All grapes are carefully harvested by hand with only the best fruit going to the winery.

The wine was crafted by our Winemaker Peter Bartle to exhibit fragrant red berry fruit on the nose with hints of violets, spice and dried herb aromas. Sweet red and dark cherry flavour’s show on the palate together with spice, leather and a touch of tobacco and mushroom.

This wine is complex, mouth filling and with fine-grained tannins is ideally suited for those that like to drink a good Central Otago Pinot Noir with Lunch or equally at Dinner when a wine with bold and heavy tannins can overpower delicate dishes. It is well documented that a delicate dish should be paired with a subtle wine and this certainly meets that criteria.

The wine is perfectly suited to those that have recently been introduced to drinking fine red wine and may not appreciate the big tannins. However Peter Bartle has left plenty of nuances to keep the interest of those of you who can discover the subtitles of this wine and although being bottled recently the wine is drinking very well.
